Going Back to a Skilled Nursing Facility

Standard

One of the doctors on my surgery team came to visit this morning.  She said I may be discharged tomorrow depending upon the condition of the skin graft.

And another doctor came to see me because of the pain I’ve been experiencing.  He’s going to order gabapintin for my nerve pain.  And he’s going to order another pain medication.  I forgot the name he mentioned.

I really hope this entire experience can become a catalyst for me to change my life for the better.  I’m seriously tired of going through these kinds of things.

Life is so much more than getting high all the time.  I should be living in a mansion with a maid and beautiful roommates.  I know I can do so much more with my life if I can get off the drugs.

I know I can change my life for the better.  I know I can create something great with my life.

In San Francisco General Hospital

Standard

I finally had the surgery that’s supposed to help save my right foot.  The doctor performed a skin graft and she lengthened my achilles tendon so I’ll have better range of motion in the ankle.

I hope I change my life after this because I don’t want to experience something like this again.  I almost lost my right foot because I was too busy getting high instead if going to the doctor’s office at the first sign of trouble.

It’s time to do something different with my life.  I’ve been a drug addict for more than three decades and it’s time for a change.

Give to the World what You Want Most

Standard

The picture above says a lot with only a few words.  If you give what you most want it will come back to you tenfold.  I’ve been doing that for the better part of the past two decades and I’ve found it to be true.

For example, I read the book, the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra in 1993 and began practicing tithing, which is one of the spiritual laws.  At time I began practicing giving away ten percent of my income I was earning $10 an hour.

After only two months of giving away money, I got a better job that paid $12 an hour.  Then I got work that paid $15 an hour.  It works, if you give it time.  Don’t rush the universe, and be secure that you will receive what you want.

I’ve also given away drugs and I’ve gotten drugs in return.  Those of you that have read this Change My Life blog know I am a life long drug addict who is trying to change my life.

I mention the drugs only to illustrate that you can have whatever you want as long as you give it away.

Laid Up in a Hospital Again

Standard

Hello there,

I haven’t written a blog post for a long time because I’m laid up with a bad ankle.  They (the doctors) almost had to amputate my right leg just below the knee because it became really infected.  Talk about a life change!

Currently, I’m on a powerful antibiotic called vancomycin and there is a tiny vacuum cleaner inside my leg sucking the infection out of me.  I’ve been hospitalized for more than two weeks so far.

Ankle after operation

I hurt my right leg about a month ago trying to inject morphine then it got infected so bad I had to call an ambulance to take me to the hospital.  I kept thinking it’d get better but it got worse.  One of the doctors on the case told me if I had waited one more day to get help, they would not have been able to save my foot.

I was admitted to the UCSF Medical Center where I remained for about two weeks while the doctors tried to save my foot.  I suffered through two operations both of which hurt so bad  I had to scream every time someone touched the injury.  I may have to go through one more operation but I still have my foot.

I’m grateful the doctors were able to save my foot.  They were talking about an amputation right below the knee if they couldn’t clean all the debris and infection.

I’m a lucky guy!  Thanks for your time and your support while I try to change my life.
